[ Luna only really knows about The Weed, and that's Peter's drug of choice. And she certainly doesn't partake enough to know the.... uh, range of that particular recreation. ]
I know a lot about Moon Presence, so I can essentially explain a lot. The only problem with that is that is that people tend to get a bit fed up. [ She could go on for a long, long, looong time. ] Perhaps it's easier just to answer any questions.
[ That way she doesn't overwhelm him with information. ]
I can definitely introduce you! [ Also, oh— okay, that's impressive (and incredibly violent). ]
Oh, electricity! It looks like it charges and lets off some kind of electronic.... pulse...? How clever! It definitely seems like something more seen in Ruby's world compared to mine. I mean, we don't even use electricity for a start.
you will be surprised to find out that generally speaking i kind of enjoy just hearing someone pop off about a topic i might be interested in. besides, if i had a specific question i would've asked already. the way i see it, i get to learn a bunch of shit i might not have thought asking about and you get to be passionate and excited about something you love. win/win, right?
THIS SAID, PLEASE DO INTRODUCE US!!! uh to your friend not the sky octopus.
DING DING DING. correct, it does emit an electrical pulse! a bit like a taser, but it also interfered with nearby tech. my Lady's got all sorts of tricks up her sleeve ;)
Well, if you're sure you don't mind. There's quite a lot to know.
[ There's going to be the longest pause ever. She is Writing. ]
So, Moon Presence is one of the most powerful Pthumerians of this world next to Mariana. Her domain is the skies and space. The form you see in the skies is her 'true' form, but she has another that looks more like a human does that Sleepers knew her more by when she was known as Cynthia Sodder. Both Moon Presence and Cynthia are both valid names for her, depending on how she looks when you see her.
Essentially, she's the daughter of the Pthumerian Queen and Mother Superior. She was born and raised due to a vision the Pthumerian Queen had of creating a union between her daughter and a human — to create a powerful half-Pthumerian, half-human being. They travelled to the human world to make this happen. This was the fate her mothers designed for her. Her birth made the lands flourish, helping in creating a town known as Deerington. Cynthia, as she was known as then, loved music and had magic that helped life grow, especially plants. She loved humans and their humanity wholeheartedly. It's no surprise she ended up falling in love and marrying a human. They had a daughter together, Julia.
Motherhood is something that comes very naturally to Pthumerians, probably in ways deeper than even we can understand. Cynthia was a good mother, she was Julia's advocate and protector. She tried her best to make Julia feel comfortable with herself, that she wasn't the monster that others thought her to be. But Julia was a little girl who was in two worlds and neither all at once. She struggled with powers that came so naturally to Cynthia, and things started going wrong. Julia was warping reality, accidentally pulling in monsters and people, bringing fictional characters to life. The townsfolk of Deerington revolted against the Sodders, there was absolute chaos, Deerington burned, and the last resort was to put Julia into a coma to try and stop her powers.
But with that, Julia dreamed up a new world. The Dream of Deerington, where more and more Sleepers began to be pulled in, a world protected by Guardians — constructs based from people in Julia's life: her mother, her father, her grandmother, Ramona Derwin, The Dogkeeper (Doug, we call him), Julia herself, and then the Sleepers of Deerington themselves. Cynthia died somewhere in that time, but being such a good mother meant Julia idolised her. Cynthia's Pthumerian soul ended up being trapped within the Dream. It ended up becoming her nightmare. She was neither alive nor dead. She couldn't help Julia, and remained stuck in a weakened state.
She was able to help Sleepers in Deerington, as much as she possibly could. She was part of the reason why death wasn't permanent for Sleepers. She tried to guide and protect us as best she could. But she was tormented by the fact she couldn't help her daughter, nor could she truly help the Sleepers. She was so connected to all of us, but existed as if from behind a glass wall, often powerless to do much.
When the Dream began to slowly collapse, thanks to Mother Superior's meddling (Yes, she was still around. And while she showed sympathy to humanity, she detested Sleepers because she believed they weren't 'real' and only Julia's constructs). Sleepers were given a choice over the fates of the other Guardians. Cynthia, who had tried her best to help us, begged Sleepers to kill her so that she could be reborn, freed from her state of neither life nor death. The thing was is that although motherhood was so important to her, she was so much more than that. She swore to the Old Gods that she would do everything in her power to help us in the new world.
So we did. We Sacrificed her. She was reborn. The first thing she did was help us defeat Mother Superior to ensure that when her mother would be reborn, it wouldn't be in a way that would spell the end for us Sleepers. She then helped guide us to the Waking World, and even now she still helps us. She's rescued us from danger. She creates Moon Essence and Moon Drops, which help cure Corruption and Beasthood. She creates Lunar Flowers, which help ease Corruption. She's the one who created Lunar Orbs so we can have power. She helps us, and she sees us as her children even the ones who didn't come from the Dream.
But most importantly, she gets to be herself. She gets her own life outside of what her mothers designed for her, outside of being nothing but an idolised version of motherhood her child created for her.
Oh, how fascinating! Magic does that when it's around electricity, makes all the lights flicker. Not so much here since I think energy is technically classed as magical anyways, but it has happened sometimes.
[ Usually when said magic is... a bit more unstable. Oops. ]
[ That is... a lot. But the internal nerd in him actually loved reading it. Kind of hard to digest that all this was real although having been here for a little while now it was... a bit easier. ] I'm glad she's free and gets to be herself, now. So... question, I think I understand how dreamers got here but... how did we? I mean, me? I wasn't part of the dream.
I haven't tried to see if that translates yet, i mean if electricity is magic and she is still working... which is a little weird, I just didn't question it tbh... maybe Lady is magical now? Hah!
