Your school? [ In ruins? Luna inhales softly, eyes widening. Oh, that one definitely pulls at her. Luna hasn't been back at Hogwarts for some time, but she knows fine well her school hasn't been the same since Dumbledore died -- and it can only have gotten worse in her absence. ] What happened?
Training and experience is invaluable! Don't get me wrong, theory is very important too-- [ She's still a Ravenclaw, after all. ] But it would definitely help you, absolutely!
Dust? Mm, no. [ She's not heard of that one before. But she's curious. ] We run everything on magic. Is Dust like that?
[Ruby catches the way Luna's eyes widen and finds herself shrugging softly.]
It was a planned attack. There's a tournament held every few years at one of the schools. It was our turn this time around. A group pretending to be students from one of the other Academies infiltrated our school and used the event to cause a panic and attract the Grimm and bring down Beacon. It's more complicated then that but that's the basics.
Once I got back on my feet I left to go track down the people that did it. I've been on the road ever since.
Well maybe when I get home and get to Atlas I'll give it a shot and see if I can make the title official. It would definitely be cool.
Kind of? It's a stone that can be ground into powder. Raw dust tends to be a single element like fire or lightning, but it can be combined to have a variety of different effects. Basically everything in our world is powered by the stuff.
It's kind of like magic but it has more predictable effects when used.
That sounds awful, though. I'm so sorry, Ruby. School is supposed to be a place of safety, you know?
[ But she... gets it. It's not always like that. It's still terrible when it happens, regardless. ]
So you're still in the middle of that now? Finding the people responsible? [ She understands that one, too. She goes quiet for a moment, her lips pursing. ] Doesn't sound too different to my world, really.
So it's something tangible? That's so fascinating! Magic for us when we use to power things, it's not some kind of energy you can feel in that way. It's just... there. But it's something that comes from within us, I suppose really we're the ones powering things.
It is... Which is one of the reasons I think it was targeted. What are the future protectors of our world if they can't protect themselves, right?
[She knew there was more to it then that. But it was the easy way to focus on just what had happened.]
Basically! Or well... I was a little side tracked before I got here to be honest. I have something they want so I'm trying to get that somewhere safe. But I'm guessing the item must still be back in my world. I haven't seen it anywhere since I arrived.
[Little did she know the lamp was laying on her bed back in Deerington. It just hadn't ended up in her luggage aboard the Titanic.]
Yeah! The bullets my scythe uses are filled with them. If we get somewhere safe where I can take some apart I can show you.
Oh! That's so cool~! You're like a super powerful battery or something.
I wonder if that's how the magic people in my world work. I've never really had a chance to ask them.
