[You have been visited by Holy Mami! She descends from the winter night sky, presents in hand. She has a smile on her face as she hands you a gift with a note attached.]
“These were made with love especially for you! Merry Christmas!”
[Before you have the chance to say anything though, she’s gone! She has a lot of gifts to deliver and little time to do so!] Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!!
[ Peter hadn't expected Christmas gifts — at all. He has the scarf draped in his lap because he's been looking at it again, when he sends Luna a text: once again in the later hours. ]
Hey, Luna? Thank you for the present. That was really nice of you
At my school, everyone gets sorted into houses. They're a bit like teams, I suppose. But you're with that team for your entire time at school. Each house values a set certain qualities a person has. Hufflepuff is the name of one of those houses.
[In an attempt to enthusiastically celebrate his first ever Christmas, Fern is covertly dropping off a wrapped gift addressed to Luna from him on her doorstep.
It's a butterfly knife!
Because of course Fern would assume a knife makes a good holiday gift.]
[There's a gift under the tree that has Luna's name on it. It's wrapped rather old fashioned, which is probably telling to who wrapped it. It's brown paper and string.
Inside is a hand bounded book though. The cover is made of leather and opening it, Luna will find that the pages seem somewhat worn for what seems to be a new book. Flipping through it though and Luna will find that much of the information is what is written in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. She'll find that this isn't the original manuscript, but Newt's original notes and findings that he had recorded in his own notes and journals and replicated into a cohesive book for her. It's a complete collection of Newt's notes and sketches/drawings over the years.
There's another journal alongside, but instead of Newt's insignia and name imprinted onto it; it's Luna's own.]
I hope this doesn't come off as arrogant, but you seemed so terribly fond of my book, so I hope that this is a fitting gift. It's a replica of all my work throughout the years for your enjoyment and learning.
I hope to read many of your own notes one day. If you will give me the honor to do so.
[ She's looking a little peaky, if anything. Certainly a lot less healthier than she was the first time she met. But she's still her faintly cheerful self. ]
I'm alright. There's a few people from my world here, so I'm with them right now. What about you? Did you make it off the ship alright? Have you found somewhere safe, too?
[ Peter sleeps very often here, even more than back in Deerington. However, since establishing that distinctive connection with Luna by an impalpable red thread, he's been trying to be awake, present, more. And it's easier, both because he wants to be, and because her thoughts keep him company. It's become something past simple fondness; he's reliant on that connection. They're not always physically together (though they are quite a bit), but even in the lapses, they can stay together mentally.
But his body and mind are... still very weak, even with Luna's presence giving him strength. He often naps, often slips into napping without even meaning to, if he just sits in one place for too long. Thankfully this time he's somewhere safe — back at the room he's been staying at with Ben and Will, curled up on the floor pallet. His thoughts are... empty right now; there's nothing going on as he sleeps. Just a heavy, peaceful darkness.
And then something stirs from the quiet, crawling up out of it. Something else that isn't Peter at all, but lives inside Peter.
Paimon's been able to communicate directly with some other.. inhuman beings, things he shares a thread of his own with for some reason, but the line between Peter and Luna belongs to them and he's... limited. Little snippets of thought, static that can't quite form something clear. He's talked to Luna before, though, in the ways that he can. He knows she's heard him.
And so while Peter's sleeping, the demon reaches out to the witch, tentatively. It's hard to communicate, frustrating, but if he can just let her know he's there... Maybe he'll be able to say more, the more they speak. ]
'Cluck.' [ It's a soft sound, and then after a long pause, there's another. The presence is tension and curiosity bundled together into some odd mixture, knocking quietly on the door of her thoughts. ]
[ Luna rests often too. Not always to sleep — but at least just resting. Sleep doesn't come easily for now. Not unusual for those who've returned from death. But just staying in the small apartment — it keeps the others content: the Scamanders and Percival. That she's not running herself ragged.
She seems to sleep better when Peter's near. But he's not here for now, and the relative safety of the apartment is her only comfort for the time being. She flicks through a book, not really focusing much on the words — simply existing quietly until the sound comes through the connection. Luna looks up, eyes widening slightly. ]
Peter—? [ His name is breathed softly in reply, a gentle whisper. But she stops. No. No, it isn't Peter. There's some of it that sounds like him, in the vocalisations, perhaps — but Luna... knows this isn't him. It's something else, the Other. Whatever lurks in the far reaches of his mind: a curse, dark magic — buzzing and shifting underneath.
And it's— it's trying to talk to her.
For a long time, she's quiet. The second cluck still vibrating through her mind. She hesitates, unsure if she should really reply. Talking to curses. Stranger things have happened, surely. But Luna knows better — she'll tread carefully with this. ]
hi, uh i don't want to dump this on you, but i don't want to leave you in the dark either especially since we were both hanging around Ben's a lot recently i didn't ditch anyone last week, i died i'm ok now though
I had been wondering where you'd gone, I thought maybe you'd gone back to the treehouse for a bit.
[ If he'd been wanting to get away from Peter for a bit, she'd understand that. Especially since Peter's presence at Ben's has grown over the last couple of weeks. But no, this is worse than that: ]
I'm sorry, Fern.
Are you really alright? Or are you just saying that? Please don't say you're alright if you're not.
[ Throughout early May, a certain demon has been quietly sneaking out to deliver some of his drawings to the witch he's been missing. Even though Peter's returned to school and they get to see her more often again, he hasn't been able to talk to her directly in over a month by now, or be alone with her at all. It's been very difficult, and Paimon's decided to communicate with her again in a way he's able to.
Over the weeks, Luna will find the drawings left right outside her door. They're all on simple sheets of paper, and appear to have been done in markers.... ]
[It's been about a week since Ruby just stopped showing up at school. During that time there was no answer on her Fluid. The first couple days days made sense because she physically incapable of answering at the time. Being completely encased in spider webs makes it hard to get at your pockets.
After that she just needed some time to take stock of herself and slowly reach out to those close to her. Being left alone and trapped with only her thoughts had left her demoralized. She needed to do something to get her mind off it.]
Hey Luna. I don't know how but I fell super behind on all my schoolwork. Are you busy this weekend? Mind giving me a hand?
[Who is this person and what have they done with Ruby Rose?]
[ Luna indeed has noticed Ruby's absence from school. The first day had earned a gently exasperated sigh of disapproval that she's skipped out. But as time went on, she'd grown a little worried. Ruby ditching school isn't a new thing, but it felt extreme, even for Ruby's standards.
When she finally gets a text, and it's... asking about homework -- Luna knows something's not quite right here. Much like Peter, Ruby isn't particularly a fan of schoolwork, never mind wanting to catch up with it. ]
Of course I don't mind helping you with schoolwork. I'm absolutely free to help you with it over the weekend, any time.
But are you alright? You missed a lot. That's not like you.
I'm alright. I've managed to set up some rather convenient charms around my home to help deal with this awful heat, so that's nice. Admittedly, I'm not very good with the heat. I'm not really used to it. I hope you're coping with it better than I am.
[ He remembers her very vaguely, from some brief comment on the network. But Varian sent him to Ruby and Ruby's sent him here, so. ]
Luna, this is Jonathan Sims. Ruby suggested I direct some questions to you, regarding what she called the Green Demon. It sounds as though it threatened her in the Great Sleep, but wasn't as aggressive towards you.
Would you be able to describe your experience with it?
[ She remembers him too. But more recently, she'd seen him in one of the videos used as 'evidence' against Fern in Monokuma's trials. Luna is... cautious, seeing as she's being asked about the demon inside of Fern (who she's now named Phthalo) and... there isn't a very good track record here. Fern's her friend, and she's become quite protective of him in her own way -- considering there's just so much to unpack with him. ]
Hello, Mr. Sims.
That seems to be the case with her, yes. But... 'as aggressive'? Oh, no. He wasn't at all aggressive with me when I encountered him. He was actually very nice. We got on very well.
[ Well... someone's awake. August had been a quiet and mostly demon-free month, but when she finds these on her doorstep she knows fine well who's been making things. But... strangely enough, these... don't seem so bad? They're not like the drawings he'd left her back in May. Just some... strange looking creatures (are they hedgehogs? who knows?) left instead. And a.... fish, she's sure it's a fish. Or is it a horse..?
These are... okay. Better. She... doesn't mind these so much. They're quite interesting, the more she looks at them. And they're... not going in the box at the bottom of her cupboard. She'll... find somewhere for them to go. ]
[ Paimon is... definitely awake. And... doing the rounds, it seems. There's a little panic here, because Paimon going off and doing his own thing has definitely been getting her a little stressed out considering she doesn't know what he's up to. But this is... this seems okay? ]
Oh, you got some too? [ A pause. ] I didn't know you two had met.
She likes this. She likes this very much. Luna's pleasantly surprised by the gift, and she can't help but smile at the fact it's a penguin. What a good callback. It's very thoughtful! ]
[ on 1 Nov, Luna gets a package. There's a note. ]
Luna,
This deer has given me less nightmares. I hope you can find some joy in it.
-Credence
[ Inside is a plushie: ]
"It looks a little worn, but soft, and picking it up will bring whoever does great comfort. Someone who brings the stuffed animal with them will find that beasts and monsters don't seem to notice whoever is holding the stuffed animal."
[ It's a surprise to find the package, but it is rather a pleasant one.
Luna stares curiously at the little plushie for a long moment before smiling softly at the note. It's very thoughtful, and kind. And perhaps it's in perfectly good timing, considering that the events of October are over once more for another year. Sleepers will finally be able to find some comfort in sleep, but... nightmares are going to be quite the problem. Even after a relatively safely spent month, there's plenty of horrors to plague her dreams.
But at least, with this, she may sleep untroubled by such things.
And when she learns that Credence has returned home, she hopes that Credence knows somehow that it will also bring her joy, and a little peace, too. ]
[ Peter's going to make sure he sees Luna at some point on Christmas — whether that's coming over to her place, or having her over to eat with him and Henry. And when there's an opportunity to be alone with her, he'll give her a little Christmas present he's been working on.
It's a playlist, one he'll show her how to access on her Fluid. Most of the songs are ones Luna is probably familiar with, given Peter's love for The Beatles and tendency to play them in his room a lot when she's over. But these songs are very different, too: they're all covers of Peter's favourite Beatles songs in more chill, acoustic, moody, folksy, or slower tempo styles. Ones that he thinks Luna will enjoy, or that remind him of her (and yes, most of them are.... romantic songs. His ears will be red the entire time he gives her this!!)
To go along with it, he'll also be gifting her a pair of earbuds in a little doughnut case, something he'd bought back when the world market was around. Happy Holidays to his favourite witch. ♥
....Someone else has something to gift his favourite witch, as well. Who even knows when Paimon managed to take the reins and sneak a gift into her bag, but at some point when Luna takes out her things, she'll discover a tupperware container (stolen from Henry and Peter's kitchen).
Inside, carefully wrapped in one of Peter's undershirts (also stolen), is a strange little object:
A figure comprised of different pieces and parts of random things he's been collecting over time, glued and fastened together. It's very intricately made, a bit of an upgrade from his creations of the past. Paimon's been practicing his handiwork skills, clearly. He's also been paying attention to little details here and there, and for Luna, the figure is modeled after a rabbit, or even a hare. Happy Holidays, baby witch. 👑 ]
[ ... Who's going to be flat-out on her bedroom floor listening to this playlist for hours on end and having Feelings™ later on? This girl.
As for the figurine... she is genuinely impressed with this one. It isn't difficult to work out just who this is from, but Paimon's definitely improved massively over the last few months. And it's not something nightmare-inducing either, like certain past artworks. She's going to put it on one of the shelves in her potions room; he'll probably approve of that.
Peter has some gifts too! She's painted him a pair of converse chucks with something... rather familiar. It's The Weed, as she calls it. She's also made him a bracelet out of precious stones and leather. When he opens it, she'll shyly raise her wrist to show a matching bracelet in green — her face bright red. She... absolutely made them matching bracelets, yes.
She hasn't forgotten about Paimon either. There's a small box wrapped up in silvery paper and ribbons that's been left for him whenever he next makes an appearance. Inside, is a golden and red crown, made out wires and beads. It's... not a particularly 'glorious' crown. But she did work very hard on it, and he'd appreciate something made by her. ]
[On the 25th Luna will find a gift has been left outside her door! According to the tag it's from Fern, and inside the meticulously wrapped package is a flower pendant carved from bone.
[ There'll be a gift for Fern delivered, too! Luna's knitted him a pair of gloves. Well. They're a bit like bracers, really. They're also made out of the same wool she asked for last year from Sodder, so when worn, they'll emit a low-level warming charm to keep him extra toasty in the winter months.
They're fingerless, so hopefully that'll mean he can still use his vines without wrecking them. Warm and practical! Merry Christmas, Fern! ]
[ In the middle of the night, there's suddenly an image send to Luna. Peak Modern Teen Culture: a meme. One Peter thought relevant to one book-loving witch's interests. ]
[ A festively wrapped package has been left in Luna's mailbox with an attached note wishing her happy holidays from K. Inside the package she'll find a small, silver rabbit charm with sapphire accents that K requested from Sodder for her (requested with a vague "in a form that will be to Luna's liking" specification; hopefully she approves of the lil rabbit) — of a good size to be worn as a brooch, or perhaps on a keychain or bracelet. When worn or simply kept on her person in a pocket or the like, the charm will provide a calming effect on the mind: soothing any anxieties, enabling a restful sleep, or helping increase mental focus, depending on what's most needed at the time. ]
[ Luna will be absolutely delighted with the little rabbit charm. She does have an affinity for them, in all honesty. She's absolutely going to be making a bracelet especially for it to attach the charm to. It's definitely going to come in handy for living in Deerington... not to mention for doing homework. Senior year is a tough ride.
There's a small gift for K for Christmas too! She's made him a bracelet out of beads. It's been charmed with a simple cheering charm, which offers the wearer a sense of contentment. It may wear off in time — but Luna leaves a note to say she'll gladly maintain the charm for him if he needs it. ]
